Kylie Minogue Begins Cancer Treatment

Australian famous pop singer Kylie Minogue has begun treatment for "early stage" breast cancer at a private Catholic hospital in the southern Australian city of Melbourne.

Kylie Minogue suddenly cancelled her pending Australian "Showgirl" tour on Tuesday announcing via her promoter, that she was battling breast cancer.

Victorian Premier Steve Bracks warned paparazzi to respect the singer's privacy, warning them about the state's strict privacy laws.

News of the disease prompted hundreds of Australian women to make appointments for mammograms and cancer check-ups. One breast screen centre received about 1,700 telephone calls.
