Nipples for 550 000 $

The Federal Communications Commission is set to impose a record $US550,000 indecency fine against CBS-owned stations for their broadcast of singer Janet Jackson's breast-bearing incident during January's Super Bowl, the Washington Post reports.

The newspaper report, which cited unnamed FCC sources, said on Saturday the agency was expected to vote unanimously for the fine, which would be the largest levied against a television broadcaster.

The amount represents a $27,500 fine for each of the 20 television stations owned by CBS, which in turn is owned by Viacom Inc, the paper said.

The decision could be released as early as next week, the paper said. Excluded from the fines are CBS's more than 200 affiliate stations, which also aired the half-time show during the National Football League championship game.

''We would be extremely disappointed,'' CBS said in a statement issued to the newspaper.

''While we regret that the incident occurred, and have apologised to our viewers, we continue to believe that nothing in the Super Bowl broadcast violated indecency laws.''

CBS chief Les Moonves vowed in July that he will fight any fines imposed by the FCC. "We're going to take that to the courts if it happens," he said, declaring that the fines would be "perilously dangerous."

Britney's nude body

Pop diva Britney Spears is actually stark naked in the video clip of her latest album Toxic , according to the director of her music video. In an interview to MTV , video director Joseph Kahn revealed that Britney did not wear a nude hose over her body for the shot. "That's just her naked with diamonds on," he was quoted as saying.

The $1 million clip was shot on a Los Angeles soundstage in December over three days and features dozens of complicated special effects. As he does in all his videos, Kahn also packed it full of tributes to his favorite movies and artists. From the John Woo-like pack of doves that follows the airplane into the first and last frames to the "Blade Runner" look of the futuristic city Britney rides through on a motorcycle, Kahn mixed the familiar with some signature touches.

Killer Rock Singer Going "Home"

French rock star Bertrand Cantat / Noir Désir - Black Desire /, convicted in Lithuania of murdering his girlfriend actress Marie Trintignant during a Vilnius hotel room brawl, may be handed over to French authorities this month, several months earlier than expected, officials said on Thursday.

Lithuania informed French authorities last month that it approved Cantat's request to serve his sentence in France. French authorities this week said they were willing to accept the singer, the Lithuanian ministry said.

Trintignant, the daughter of veteran French film star Jean-Louis Trintignant, had been in Vilnius to shoot a television movie about the French writer Colette, directed by her mother Nadine, when she was killed.

The 40-year-old rocker, who had faced a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, told the court he slapped Trintignant during a heated row, which caused her to fall and hit her head on a radiator. He said he had not intended to kill her.

Under French law, Cantat's lawyers can apply for a conditional release after he has served half his sentence.

Superman Jesus Christ

"The Passion Of The Christ" and "The Count of Monte Cristo" star Jim Caviezel may be ready to sign a deal to star as Superman in the long-awaited film "Superman Returns," IMDb.com reports.

Actors Jude Law, Josh Hartnett and Brendan Frasier have turned down the part, but Caviezel is almost a guarantee to star in the film, World Entertainment News Network reported Thursday.

Comic book author Mark Miller said, "My good buddy has informed me that Jim Caviezel is officially the new man of steel, and what a perfect choice he is. Expect an announcement shortly."

We'll have to wait and see if Warner Bros. confirms this. Bryan Singer is directing the film for a Summer 2006 release.

Caviezel's manager, Beverly Dean, previously said that the actor would be interested in playing the role. "Would he like to do it? He loves Superman. But the truth is there has been no offer, the script isn't even finished - but absolutely he'd be interested."

Also Andy Serkis, who was the model and voice of the computer-generated "Gollum," will return to voice the gorilla.

Peter Jackson, says his version of the film will be different from the original, in that it will focus more on character development, especially Kong. "He's a very old gorilla and he's never felt a single bit of empathy for another living creature," Jackson told the Associated Press.

The original cost $672,000, whereas this remake will be made for $110 million. Everything about this modernization will be bigger and better and in color. Filming starts this week and is set to be released in 2005.
